Needed: Identification of a German dagger!
Needed: Identification of a German dagger!
I hope some one can help. I have had this Dagger for about 20 years. I got it from a friend. Unfortunately I cleaned it with Brasso about 15 years ago ( I know, I wish I knew then not to clean it). I have no Idea what this Dagger is, or even if it is real or a fake.
The blade itself, has blemishes, but I gues that is from oxidization and Brasso. The sheath is tarnished, and cracked near the top between the 2 decorative rings.
As for Markings the blade has: F.W.H.O.LLER (star symbol) BERLIN (star symbol) . There is also 2 little holes on top of the eagles head. Looks like something in manifacturing.
I will add a few photos of it.
I hope someone can help.
Thank you

tcr7,
Your dagger is a reproduction German Diplomatic Corps dagger.....the trademark with the Berlin address is a dead give away that it's bogas.....too bad, an original would be worth "almost" a new car.....incidently, these have been around since the 1970s/80s.....

Re: Needed: Identification of a German dagger!
The "Berlin" trademark on normally Solingen makers was an attempt by Spanish manufacturers to avoid West German trademark laws in the early 1970's.
