Help with identifying medal

#1

Post by andrew184 » 07 Feb 2015, 00:27

Hello everyone,

I recently found this medal in some family heirlooms and was wondering whether anyone could identify it for me? I believe it might be from the First World War but beyond that, I'm stumped.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately there is nothing on the reverse. It was in with some medals from the First World War so I always assumed that it was related to that conflict too.

Does look like "winged victory" symbolism, but certianly NOT an official medal. Many States, towns, Cities, even Churches, businesses, and the like....issued unofficial medals for service in WW 1. Usually they are more specific than this one.... (name of town/dates/etc.) so I'm not sure about this one.... but I'd certianly include it in the WW 1 lot unless proven otherwise...
