German WW1 Armband 2 red bars

Does anyone know what this is? I was told it was German WW1 and presume to be an armband. Just wondering under what circumstances would someone wear this? A clean one would stand out against a dark uniform. Thanks for any info.

Not typical German style....looks French IMHO. No idear what it represents except possibly rank (the two bars).
See what other opinions you get... but looks French to me.

Thanks for the info. I found a French medic armband that has a similar type buckle. So you are probably correct. Looked up French V Corps, but it goes back to 1815. Don't think the armband's that old. Anyway, I enjoy mysteries.
