Identify an uniform WW1 - need help
Identify an uniform WW1 - need help
I've discovered this photo of my ancestor. He was polish, lived under Austro-Hungarian annexation. He prolly was a military official.
I'd be very grateful if anyone give me as much info as possible on the uniform.

And in full-dress with sidearm -- but what kind of headwear goes with it, that seems to be on the stump behind him?
Presumably he is holding white gloves?

Re: Identify an uniform WW1 - need help
The attached is a photo a cousin who I think served in the Austro Hungarian army during WWi but I'm not sure. Can anyone identify the uniform?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Identify an uniform WW1 - need help
That's correct.I think this is an Austro Hungarian uniform but not sure
It's an Austro Hungarian Army uniform, with the Franz Joseph 60th Jubilee (1848-1908) medal,
the "Distanzschätzerauszeichnung" specialist badge on the right breast,
and a marksmanship lanyard. A pre-war picture for sure.
Example of the same lanyard:
" The right to believe is the right of those who don't know "

I was told this is a picture of Austro-Hungarian Cavalry and the supposed date of it being taken was about 1910. I am curious as to the rank of the soldiers or any other specific information on regiment and so on. My great-grandfather sits on the left, Jacob Pfeifer.

Ulanen / lancers. To know a regiment necessary birth-place. Your great-grandfather rank - Korporal.
