Identify an uniform WW1 - need help

#1

I've discovered this photo of my ancestor. He was polish, lived under Austro-Hungarian annexation. He prolly was a military official.

I'd be very grateful if anyone give me as much info as possible on the uniform.

Hungarian Gendarmerie, part of the national police of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Certainly pre-war.

And in full-dress with sidearm -- but what kind of headwear goes with it, that seems to be on the stump behind him?

Presumably he is holding white gloves?

That's correct.
It's an Austro Hungarian Army uniform, with the Franz Joseph 60th Jubilee (1848-1908) medal,
the "Distanzschätzerauszeichnung" specialist badge on the right breast,
and a marksmanship lanyard. A pre-war picture for sure.

Example of the same lanyard:

I was told this is a picture of Austro-Hungarian Cavalry and the supposed date of it being taken was about 1910. I am curious as to the rank of the soldiers or any other specific information on regiment and so on. My great-grandfather sits on the left, Jacob Pfeifer.
