My grandma had it. She was young in the time of the ww2. I didn't find any information about the jar. Is 3 inch in height and the lid has 2 inch and a half in diameter. It writes :

-Berlin-
medicinisches
waarenhaus A.-G.
-Karlstr.31-

In the back side is the number 20. A.-G. stands for Aktiengesellschaft.

These type jars would have held "cotton swabs" or "cotton balls" or something on that idear- there would have been 'deeper' versions also for "Q-tip type swabs", tounge depressors, etc.

Without a label no way of being 100% sure.....but "cotton swabs" is most likely IMO. Civilian Medical would have used same type jars, possibly even commercial versions for home use?

Make authenic looking display, also of interest to "medical memoribilia" collectors....

There's no way of dating them accurately (if they aren't marked or dated themselves)....would have been in common useage from probably the mid 1800s thru "present day" .........but with those markings I'd certianly date these as 1914 - 1945....could be either "war" (or in between).....but certian "period".....

These type items would have remained in service as long as they were servicible.....they would have sterlized them regularly and they could have been used for decades!

Are you sure that isn't amber colored glass? It would take an enormous and expensive piece of amber to fashion that jar.

No one seriously thought this was made from real amber.... probably wouldn't "Sterilize" too well!
