Dog Tag Identification

I have been going through further items in my collection and came across my two dog tags which i have had many years. I am only having the chance to look into them now. I need some help in identifying what the numbers mean.

The first dog tag is quite dark (burnt?) or just tarnished. The translation of the numbers is:

4. / J. R. 4 5 8

There is also an 'o' in the top right corner which i assume is blood group.

The second dog tag is silver coloured and the translation of the numbers is:

STB. II / JR. 162.

77.

There is also an 'o' in the bottom left which i assume is the blood group.

Thats all I know not sure what the STB is

Thanks very much for your prompt reply! Do you happen to know where I can find out the actions of these regiments during ww2 ? (Assuming these tags are actually ww2 and not ww1??)

Sorry - not correct! The dog tag reads:

4. / J. R. 4 5 8 - which means: 4.th Company / Infantry Regt. 458

150 - the individual's number and O : his blood group.

The second dog tag reads:

STB. II / JR. 162. = Stab 2nd Bataillon / Infantry Regt. 162

77 - the individual's number and O : his blood group.

Note that on the dog tags and on some documents the letter "J" is used instead of the 'I' in order to avoid mistakes with the roman cyphers as used for the Batailon level. So "JR" reads here Infantry Regiment.

Is there anywhere on the Internet I can find out information about these units and battles they took part in? I had a look but couldn't find much. Appreciate any help.

Inf. Regt. 162/61st Inf. Div. (39-44) 61st VGD (44/45)- formed Ost Prussia 1939. Invasion of Poland/Seige of Warsaw, Belgium 1940; Army Group North Invasion of Russia/Drive thru Baltic, Siege of Leningrad, 2nd Battle Lake Ladoga, retreat from Leningrad thru Baltic, Transfered to AG Center- Retreat thru Poland, ended war cut off in Ost Prussia 1945.
