Makers Mark on possible WW1 German Sword

#1

Post by j marks » 09 Sep 2014, 05:01

Good Morning All,

I spotted this sword at a local arms expo and the makers mark caught my interest. Does anybody have any ideas?

Is it a reproduction?

Any help or pointers would be much appreciated! :)

Kind regards

Joel

Joel

Welcome to the Forum

I would like to see photos of the whole sword, however, based on the marking which purports to be Carl Eickhorn, I think it could be a fake.

Markings are horrible~!..... but agree seeing the entire sword is necessary. Markings on the guard are also very questionable looking!

Thanking you all for your time.

The closer I look at this sword now the more convinced that I should have been a lot more cautious in my first foray into Imperial German Edged Weaponary!!!

I have attached further pictures :)

Surprisingly enough... the sword "looks" much better quality than I expected.... might be legit (o.k.).... while the markings still look all wrong (?), if it is a reproduction sword... it's a pretty good job.... (based on just the photos)...

I'd try searching for more information on "Eickhorn" & Imperial Swords, etc. (and related forums/websites) before I ruled it "in or out" completely ....

Best I can do for you....
