If some of you are interested in sharing photos of items in your collection, I think a section with BUF militaria on the site would be a very nice addition.
Let me know what you think about the idea.

B.U.F. section

Post by Menachem » 22 May 2005, 20:24

A great idea Marcus. We did tend to get bogged down with posts about all the copy B.U.F. items around at the moment, which all said and done is not really what most serious collectors are interested in hearing about. Somewhere we could build up a photo archive of original items would I think be of interest to collectors generally.

Hi Marcus,

Sounds interesting...

It would be nice to have a section devoted to this subject, and I do hope other collectors are encouraged enough to show off their authentic pieces and to share what knowledge they have about this little known field of collecting.

Regards.

I agree with Menachem and Claymore,B.U.F. section on this forum would be great! There are lot of copies and reproduction on the market so it would be fastest and most secure way to check if some item is original or not.

My suggestion was for a section on the site, not the forum :-) but I hope you'll agree with that idea too.

Section

Although I would personally be interested in what you suggest, I wouldn't be happy with for instance, a section on the Axis History Factbook under the Collaboration & Pro-Nazi Parties. The Mosley Movement didn't collaborate with the Nazi's, and thousands of Blackshirts died defending their country, so it wouldn't be fair (or desirable) to lump them with this group.

Marcus,

Yes, I'm aware of that and the title of that section will be changed to include also the right wing parties that did not collaborate with the NSDAP.

You can find the new section at http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=6602

If you have any photos you want to add there, send them to me at [email protected] thanks.

No problem.

I hope more people will be willing and able to contribute to that section so it can grow.

Hello guys, I was just wondering if someone can post a picutre of a BUF or BU membership party badge? And where exactly would this be located on an individual's suit or party uniform?

Cheers, Rand.

Hi Rand
I have already posted photo of membership badge in this topic(Fasces badge). The other(later) type of membership badge is badge with B.U.F. letters(later only B.U.) and Fasces on Union Jack shield. Those two badges were the only official badges made for members of the B.U.F.

Hey Kristijan, thanks.

I was thinking the other day about how a few men that joined the BFC were also members of the BUF or BU. So I am planning in the future to make a BFC uniform along with a BUF membership pin. I think it would look pretty cool.

Cheers, Rand.

Hi Rand,
Sorry that I must dissapoint you,but B.U.F. was ultra patriotic party, and the party like that couldn't support another country that invaded Britain. As Menachem already said:
'The Mosley Movement didn't collaborate with the Nazi's, and thousands of Blackshirts died defending their country, so it wouldn't be fair (or desirable) to lump them with this group.'

In other words, that what you're planning to do would be big insult to all those Blackshirts that died for their country!

I suggest that you look Roll of Honour at http://www.oswaldmosley.com for names of some killed B.U.F. members.
Regards
Kristijan
