According to the caption, the second photo is not taken in Shanghai, but troop in Pukou. Pukou is on the opposite side of the Yangtze River to Nanking, and today it has become one of Nanjing's districts.
As usual, what is the source of these pictures?

Oirob, do you know what the backstory is on these fellows? I would guess warlord troops of some sort based on their uniforms, but I'm not particularly familiar with the different factions' uniforms.oirob wrote:
