The Roots of Madness (documentary)

Lately I discovered this dokumantary on Youtube:

China: The Roots of Madness (1967) Documentary Film
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3R6kntniDPI

Besides the sometimes rather propagandistic comments (cold war era  ) it gives an interesting overview about the war in china 1911-1949.
It also contains a lot of rare film/newsreel scenes.

There still seems to be little known about China during the wars and early 20th century. Thanks for posting this :)

I have downloaded it from Youtube and uploaded it to Rapidshare.
But I think it is limited to 10 downloads...so first come -first serve.
May be you have access in china.

I think its an US-american production.
The main part deals with the 1920s civil war and 1930s sino-japanese war era. Less 1946-1949 scenes at the end.

you need 7-zip to extract the file (free program): http://www.chip.de/downloads/7-Zip-32-Bit_13004776.html
or HJ-split http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/

Have you also tried this link http://www.archive.org/details/gov.archives.arc.616322 if you have access you can download it there too.

Good luck

All in all a very good documentary -- though I agree with the caveats expressed by earlier posters. It is well to keep in mind that this was produced in 1967 -- at the height of the Cultural revolution, clearly the "Madness" referred to in the title. It is inevitable, perhaps, that that great aberrationshould color the film's outlook.
