Death of General Hong Xing 1944

This officer was killed in 1944 while commanding the 39th Division of the 6th Army. Can anyone give me details of his death, and who succeeded him in command of the 39th?

Hong Xing died in an automobile accident in Oct 1944 while he was on the way to attending a conference. His jeep crashed and he sustained severe injuries from which he subsequently died. Xia Richang (夏日长) as acting commander of 39D in Dec 1944.
