Bulgarian military inspection areas in the First World War

Postby Elise on 27 Jan 2012 14:59

Hello together,

my name is Elise, I am from Stockholm in Sweden and studying history. I have to write a paper on Bulgaria in the First World, especially the Bulgarian occupation zones.

I have found that there were three military occupation areas: Morava military inspection area ("Moravska voenno-inspekcionna oblast"), Macedonia military inspection area ("Makedonska voenno-inspekcionna oblast") and Drama military inspection area (»Dramska voenno-inspekcionna oblast«).

I also found a (bad quality) map with the areas. But what about statistical data on these zones? But were can I find population figures? How many people live in those three voenno-inspekcionna oblasts? And any idea how many Bulgarian, German and Austro-Hungarian troops were stationed there.

Also figures on the area (in km²) of these oblasts were great, but I could also estimate the area by my maps - which is not possible with the population figures...

Thus, if you have answers for me, can you please post your exact sources as well (book, article, URL, page numbers etc.) - I need the information for a academic paper!

I can read English, all the Scandinavian languares, German, Dutch, Spanish, and French. My knowledge of the Slavic languages is not good at all, but I am able to read summaries and short articles in Bulgarian and Serbian and Russian (there are dictionaries...).

Thank you very much, greets and kisses,
Elise
