Translation Help Needed!

Postby Hannes on 15 Jun 2012 08:40

Hello,

in response to a request I sent to the Military Archive in Budapest asking about 30 Hungarian officers in Polish capitivity in 1945 I got following message:

I'd be glad if anybody could help me with a translation (or simply a short summary) of this letter.

Best regards, Hannes

Google Translator gives the following:

"Upon request to inform you that the HM HIM HLI Central Archives is held by the finding listed 30 names 20 documentary collection, most of which include, to name beneficiaries Poland (Jawiszowice, Brzeszcze, Jaworzno, Świętoszów / Neuhammer) some later Soviet Union were in captivity. In general, the document collection in the location and time in captivity. a prisoner of war camps for more information on these files are not included. Please note that there are databases which are returning, and a prisoner of war who died prisoners of war, but these are the documents are personnel based on data (name, date of birth and place of your mother's maiden name), so the requests only individual named patient we performed a separate POW camps in place for screening we can not be made. "

Not very intelligible, I'm afraid.

Yeah, history1, it's quite clearly a negative response as you stated. In addition to privacy issues, they do not want to spend hours and hours of their time digging up information on 30 names even if they had all of the data in their files.

Hi,

Upon your request I inform you, that the Central Archives of HM HIM HLI has the files of 20 of the 30 names you inquired about. Most of these files include information on captivity in Poland (Jawiszowice, Brzeszcze, Jaworzno, Świętoszów/Neuhammer) and some later in the Soviet Union. The files contain the general info of place and time of captivity. There is no further info about the POW camps. I inform you that we have a database containing info of POWs who died in or returned from camps. Unfortunately this database filters on personal data (name, date/place of birth, mother's name) but cannot be queried by camp.

Bye,
Krisz
