This photo was in the same album. Unfortunately I can't read what is written on the back.

Are these two regular army? It's hard to tell as the uniforms are not so visible. I just note the "Schützenschnür", the spurs and riding boots.

A bit off the subject, but out of the same album is this photo too. I just happened to have scanned it in. Written on the back is "Wasserwagen...". Quite amazing.

I would hazard to guess that they are Romanian Jandarmes, but I am not sure. Anyone else have an idea?

I sent the picture on to a member of a Romanian Historical Military Reenactment Group who sent me an email back.

...those which are wearing cavalry boots, I believe are not Romanian.

The Iron Guard had been shut down and restricted. The uniforms of the Iron Guard were completely different (no cap, etc.)

They have epaulets and pants of different colors than those of [regular] uniforms, which were not still used in the Romanian Army. Their caps should have just one button in front, but it isn't clear [in the picture]. Romanian Schutzenschnur were thinner and shorter, also they were not worn very much during the war.

He will talk to some others and let me know if he gets any more information on the uniforms/identity of the soldiers in the picture.
