AJFFM,
I am appreciative of your comments. Armed conflicts is more than jousting of sabres. It also involves culture and beliefs of various peoples. I welcome your insight into this aspect.....especially as it pertains to Middle Eastern views. They too were a part of WW2.
For example, what would have happened if 70% of the people of ALL Middle Eastern countries rose up against the English in 1940 or 1941? Consider mass civil conflict in Egypt, TransJordan, Iraq, and Iran in say October 1940.
One of the concepts usually forgotten is "winning the hearts and minds" of the people. Without understanding culture, religion, political structure, etc. any occupying force is doomed.
