could they survive without Georgia, Armenia, and most important the oil of Azerbaijan? (Lenin said no but that might have been hyperbole)

what would interwar period be like with Soviet Russia a shell of OTL? something like China with weak central authority or just poorer, weaker country?

One avenue is that Lenin getsoffed in the Summer of 1917, and the Bolsheviks are less effective without his leadership, one extreme would be a Bolshevik-Czar diehards cooperation.

maybe earlier cooperation between Poland and Japan? the Polish decoding Soviet radio messages was a big help? so you have the two parallel border conflicts (well Siberia started out different but devolved into border conflict basically)

it might be possible to enlist Romania and Chinese forces to participate to limited degree?

Transcaucasia several degrees harder to separate from Soviet control?

more interested in interwar period with a much reduced Soviet Russia. German-Soviet military cooperation might continue from 1920's to (any) WWII?
