Type IX

Post by bad karma » 07 Jul 2014, 13:48

Hi,

picture 1.

I think this is U 865 (Dietrich Stellmacher)

Iam NOT 100% sure.

Image

picture 2.

U 171 through U 176 series.

I don`t think this is U 159 or U 160,
this boat has a different wind-deflector,
and these two steps above the ``H`` vent are differnt too.

And I see some sort of emblem painted in front of the cunning-tower.

my best regards,

Ron.

Hello Bad karma,

When i look the picture showing the end of U 185, i see it had the same wind deflector. Maybe your ship was from U 183 to U 185 serie ?

Best regards,

Lionfish.

Hi
865, agree
Picture 2. 10th Flotilla boat. I think 160? Not many 10th Flotilla boats carried emblem.

Hi,

U 183 through U 194 series had a bend in the railing,between vertical bar 4 and 5.

This small bend can be seen here on U 889.

There are a few differences between these two boats.

U 160,19-04-1943.

Hi,

I got this picture from EBAY.COM.

Note;the ``T``shape opening in the point of her bow,
this is a underwater refuelling system.

Hello,

I forgot U 1233 , U 1234 , and maybe U 1235 , page 6 from the book : Vom Original zum Modell: Uboottyp IXC.
The picture shows the tree submarines in the U-Boot-Bunker Fink II.
We can see on this picture the underwater refuelling system on the bow of U 1233 and U 1234. The bow of U 1235 is out of the picture.

Best regards,

Lionfish.

Hi Lionfish,

Still the list is incomplete but this is some fantastic research from Simon and Maciek.

I think there are more boats with this modification.

U 806 not sure.
U 1235, her sister boats had this modification, so why not U 1235.

Hi,

The boat in front is U 1231,you can see the white U-nr written on the CT.
The boat next to her is U 1010,the other two Type VII-C`s i can`t identify.
Image

Another point of view.
Image

What interested me is that i see on U 1231`s foredeck some liferaft containers.
Image

This picture is listed in my archive as U 1231?. I don`t see any liferaft containers at all on her foredeck.
Image

And this one is too listed in my archive as U 1231 ??????????And this boat has five liferaft containers on her foredeck,
and in the point of her bow,a underwater refuelling system.
Image

U-who,with a underwater refeulling system.
Image

This is a picture from a album from EBAY,i will post the pictures soon on AHF.

If i look close to her foredeck, this boat is from the U 801 through U 806 series,
she has also a underwater refeulling system.

Ron.
