Re: U 123 Question
There is a cross reference to the 8th and 2nd Flotillas in Hogel. I was thinking U 123 was used as a training boat in the 8th but apparently she remained in Lorient. Given that the boat in the photo cannot be U 123

Re: U 123 Question
Hi Nobby,
that it clearly U 123 taken in December 1942 at Kristiansand/Norway with U 225 alongside. The shield at the CT front is the crew insignia of von Schroeter. Hope you can sleep much better now!!
Cheers

Re: U 123 Question
It is U 2506 in Bergen. Von Schroter took over command of that boat and took the symbol of U 123 with him upon leaving Lorient. U 123 never left Lorient for Norway because she was deemed unseaworthy.
Nope...that's wrong. U 2506 was a Typw XXI. Apparently Von Schroter added his Symbol to U 123 while it was still an operational boat. But U 123 never left Lorient.

Re: U 123 Question
Both boats were in Kiel 5.12.42. I believe this photo to be taken in Kiel. They both left for operations west of Ireland together. I suppose it's possible they stopped in Kristianstad but why?
Just asking....
