Re: Type VII
Hi Ron,
the curved railing on U 1165 was a feature retrofitted to many boats in 1944 to increase the room on the upper platform. So I am sorry to say that it means nothing in this case.
Shall not be back home until the middle of August, so please stay tuned!
Cheers
Axel

Re: Type VII
Hi Ron,
U 662 had an additional "stand-alone" band for AA equipment, similar to U 84.

Emblem of this boat looks like one of U 591.

Re: Type VII
Hi, Boat on right is U 591 not U 622 which had a row of vents alongside the deck gun (gunholes). Good photo, confirms AA layout of U 591 and that U 598 had no (gunholes) also last section of this boats U 598, railing on forward left looks without a bend in it. Would like to know source.

Hi Pikap,
Sorry for this late reply,i was not at home for more than a week, great to be back home.
On the uboatarchive they say nothing about U 591 sailed on 26 June 1943,
i checked the records and she sailed on that day.
@Axel,
Thanks for the ID of U 1165.
U 1162 ?????.
One more boat.
This look like U 765,Werner Wendt.
my best regards,
Ron.
