I've been searching the threads for information, but cannot find it in a simple, concise format:

What was the basic and advanced training of a U-boatfahrer: both enlisted and officer?

Once you left home, what was the course?

You reported where (unit/place)? How long were you there?

Where/how were you assigned to your basic training unit? How long (dependent on phase of the war)?

When you went to specialty training: where (unit/place) for torpedoman vs helmsman, or navigator, or diesel or E-motorman? How long?

When you graduated your advanced school, did you get leave, or report directly to your boat?

The following shows the normal way of a “U-Boot Seeoffizier” training
a lot of deviations depending from some different facts.

- U-boat basic course 8/12 weeks
U-Ausbildung-Lehrgang in 1.Unterseeboots-Lehr-Division, Pillau or
U-Ausbildung-Lehrgang in 2.Unterseeboots-Lehr-Division, Gotenhafen

- U-boat torpedo course 4/6 weeks
UTO-Lehrgang in Torpedoschule, Flensburg-Mürwik

- Communications Training Course 4/6 weeks
U.W.O-Lehrgang in Marine-Nachrichtenschule, Flensburg-Mürwik

- Artillery Training 4/6 weeks
U.W.O-Artillerielehrgang in Schiffsartillerieschule, Kiel-Wik or
U.W.O-Artillerielehrgang in Schiffsartillerieschule, Saßnitz

-Later anti aircraft course 4/6 weeks
U-Flakausbildung in Marine-Flakschule I., Swinemünde or
U-Flakausbildung Marine-Flakschule I., Neuendorf / Zinnowitz or
U-Flakausbildung in Marine-Flakschule VII., Swinemünde

-U-boat watch officer 3/18 months in operational boat (2/3 war patrols)

-Radar Equipment Training Course 4/6 weeks
Funkmeßgerätelehrgang in 2.U-Ausbildungsabteilung, Neustadt or
Funkmeßlehrgang in 3.Unterseeboots-Lehr-Division, Neustadt

-U-Boat Tactical Training 3/4 weeks
U-Taktischeausbildung 27.U-Flottille, Gotenhafen

-U-Boat Commander Torpedo Shooting Course 4/6 weeks (Kommandantenschießlehrgang)
KSL in U-boat-Ausbildungsflottille (formed in October 1939 became in April 1940 into the 1.U-boat-Ausbildungsflottille and in July 1940 renamed into the 24.U-Flottille) , Danzig, Memel, Drontheim, Goyenhafen and Eckernförde or
KSL in 23.U-Flottille , Danzig or
KSL in 26.U-Flottille , Pillau / Warnemünde

- Commander trainee usually one patrol in frontboat under orientation/supervision of the U-Boat CO
Kommandantenschüler "Konfirmand"

- takes the command of a old U-Boat from another CO or
Instruction in the final stage of construction in shipyard for new boat usually 4/6 weeks (Baubelehrung)

I'm looking for info on the Kriegsmarine officers' "boot camp" in Stralsund.
Where exactly was it in Stralsund?
What did the installations look like? Were the boots lodged in section huts or in a large building?

Stralsund a naval garrison home of II. Schiffstammabteilung der Ostsee school for initial "Grundausbildung" infantry training of naval officers situated in the small island of Dänholm on the Baltic.
Affter this "Grundausbildung" the Crew it were divided and frequented specific courses for Seeoffz., Ingenieuroffiz., Waffenoffiz., Verwaltungsoffiz. Arztoffiz. and Baubeamtoffiz.

Hi,
Jopaerya; thank you for your picture.This is no Flakschule I.
In my knowledge,this school was located at Heidefahrt Swinemunde.
This is part of the MAUREB (Marineausrüstungs und Reparaturbetrieb) system.
Does anyone have maps, plans of the areas?

This may be a common photo of the harbor exit of Pillau , Now named "Baltijsk " by the Russians . The refugees got pushed into the sea , by boat or wagon to escape over the ice 1945. Also a smaller U-boat school there .
