When this picture was taken? The coning tower seems to be very aerodynamic.

The picture was taken in 1940, in front of Toulon.
French submarines design was probably more developed than others.

Another question: I didn't find "U- Abwehrschule" in Bergen, only the 11 flotilla--> is it the same thing?

German submarine schools were mainly based in Baltic sea. I do not know if there was such a school in Bergen: perhaps somebody can answer???

Either that submarine had some very unusual capabilities or the word hydrodynamic might have been more appropriate!
