Re: Type VII
Hi
My point is that Ron's two pictures seem to have been taken at the same place on or about 22 March 1944 comissioning? U 1207 23 March and U 1171 22 March 1944 1196 was on 18 Nov 43
Just want to know for certain please?
Rgds

Hi Pikap,
I agree,U 591 on the right with the eagle emblem.
Regarding this picture.
In the background you see the harborcranes.I think the bridge is going open for U 406.
If the boats entered the harbor after a patrol the bow(s) is pointed that way.
In this picture you see the lock gate.
What do you think.
And for the other pictures i get back to you.
my best regards,
Ron.

Re: Type VII
Hello,
U-1171 had a compas house with a cone shape. The picture on the topic shows a cylinder shape. Well this isn't U-1171.
Best regards,
Lionfish.

Re: Type VII
Hi there,
I regret to say that the pic presented as U 1207 is certainly not U 1207 but U 1203.
Buchheim pic (one out of a series) was no doubt taken on 26 June 43 showing boats outbound in the lock. Even BdU staff was liable to mistakes in writing up his diary!!
Best regards
Axel
