Hello,

I think the two radio wires was a common italian used.

And U 749 ( S-7 ) had two wires too.

Hi,

Thank you for the picture,it`s not the same boat(picture posted on 4-10-2016).

If want to know that the two wires was fitted only on the U-boats built for the Italian navy.
The answer on you`re question is no.

Just an example,i have more.

U 333.

U 978.

Hello Bad Karma,

I forgot U 177 IXd2, was fitted with two radio wires.

U 978 had a single wire when he was fitted with the schnorchel. Maybe U 333 too.
Do you have pictures showing U 333 with its Schnorchel ?

Best regards,
Lionfish.

Hello,

This is U 953 in 1945. We can see the Knight's cross painted on the front of the tower. Do you know if the cross was painted with OL Marbach ? or with Olt. z.S. Herbert Werner or Olt. z.S. Steinbrink. And its impossible to see if the U-cat emblem was still on the front tower maybe over the cross ? It seems the crew emblem was deleted in the left side of the tower, in front of the fumo hohentwiel case . Could you confirm me please ?
I have last question : do you know that was the last equipments of this boat , two save boat canister at the rear of the wintergarden platform, how many on the forward deck ? one, two, three, or four ? A little panzerkasten boxe at the right side of the tower ?

Image

Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Lionfish.

Hi Lionfish,

I don`t believe U 333 had a snort during her career.

The white cross on the tower was under Marbach.Probably the cat`s emblem was above the white cross,it was Marbach`s personal emblem.
I have a pic of U 83 in La Spezia, when Hans-Werner Kraus recieved his knight cross it was painted in front of the tower too,it was not unusual.
I don`t think Marbach removed his 37A crew emblem,he was proud commander.

And you`re questions about the life raft containers and the little panzerkast,i can`t say it for sure,i have no proof, only time will tell.

Hope this helps.

my best regards,

Ron.

U 333 had snorkel mounted between june and july 1944.

Hello to all :D; a little more.....................................

Ausbildung Boote. U-Boot Flotille in voller Fahrt!

I found this picture on the web showing a whole flotilla (apparently Type VII with low AA platform) sailing at top speed. I guess in training exercises. We see that unlike painted geometric symbols all them carry letters (A, B, C, etc.) in their conning towers .....

Source: http://www.ebay.at/itm/Foto-WK-II-Krieg ... SwmLlX6ilp

Any idea about the flotilla's ID? TIA. Cheers. Raúl M 8-).

hi,

I am sorry to say the last couple of months did NOT post any pics on AHF,
my archive was screaming for some maintenance.A few months ago i got my 85/90% of pics back from my crashed harddrive, only without any ID`s.
Did some further research on the pics below, please correct me if i am wrong.

U 218(VII-D).
Image

This looks like the first commander of U 218,Richard Becker.
Image

IWO Ltn Walter Hungershausen onboard U 218.On 13-02-1943 he commissioned the new U 280.
Image

I am getting more and more interested in the sailors and officers on these boats.

U 305, not U 984.Unfortunately our friend Danni is no longer with us any more to correct this on his site.
Image
I am not sure on these 3 pics below.

U 306 ????
Image

U 307 ????

U 347 ????

my best regards,

Ron.
