Hello everyone
I would have 2 questions to address to knowledgeable members of the forum.
Can you tell me what is the U-Boot associated to the emblem worn on the Bordmütze below?
About the second picture: as far as I can see, it is the laughing cow which is seen on this Kommandant. Would that mean this is U 69?
Who you know the name of this officer (Oblt. zS and Kommandant?
many thanks for your help
Denis

Hi
First one is U 105?
Second one is difficult as "cow" was emblem of the seventh flotilla and several boats used it! not sure at all but try POPP of U 552!
Try and get a larger image so that you can see shoulder rank.
Many "experts" on this forum, so you may get more help.

Hello
Many thanks for the U 105 ID !
As for the officer, I have a larger pcitrue that I have cropped to comply with forum requirements. As far as I can see, the officer is an Oblt. zur See
Popp's pictures are close but the problem s that Popp see active service on U 552 whose the tradition badge was the Red Devil and the laughing cow.
Picture was taken around 41-42 in France, if it can help in any way

Hello Denis
It really seems to be the laughing cow from U 69 which was deployed in Lorient and Saint Nazaire (France).
It's CO's were:
- 2nd Nov 40 - 28th Aug 41 Kptlt. Jost Metzler - 24th Aug 41 - 28th Aug 41 Olt. Hans Jürgen Auffermann - 28th Aug 41 - 31th Mar 42 Kptlt. Wilhelm Zahn - 31th Mar 42 - 17th Feb. 43 Kptlt. Ulrich Gräf All CO's of the U 69 started their command as an Oberleutnant (Olt.) and became Kapitänleutnant (Kptlt.,"Kaleun") during their time in action - without Olt. Auffermann, who only was a CO on U 69 for 4 days because Kptlt. Metzler suffered from renal colics...
