route taken from Romania to France 1939

Hello,

I am trying to trace the route taken by my mother and her father and mother when they crossed over into Romania and finally ended up in France. He was a reservist officer but he may have been posing as a civilian at the time. On 15.09.1939 my grandfather's passport was prolonged for one year until 15th August 1940 and made additionally valid for Romania and France. He, and I have every reason to believe, his wife and daughter entered France at Modane - Rhône-Alpes on 21.09.1939. He subsequently worked for Sikorski in Paris and then Angers, before having to find an escape route across Spain into Portugal.

I am looking for any information relating to the route that they may have taken and anything else that might give me an idea of their transport and the conditions.

Thank you
