Uniform ID request

This is part of a photo from an auction lot with loose photos. Judging by the context, I believe it is from France 1940, but I haven't been able to ID the uniforms. Anyone recognising the uniform?

Thanks in advance,
Björn

Hi Bjorn,
I saw that you was on line. I think that the headgears are not in correct position, what should be to the front is to the side, and something lifted.
with best regards
Arto

OK, so the caps are turned the wrong way, but what nationality? French?

France 1940
May I revive this thread? I have a photograph, purchased on eBay, that intrigues me. It's both tragic and comic in a way, looking at the German faces I'm tempted the think that the first Allied soldier on the bicycle has just asked which road to take for Dunkirk?

I would really appreciate any identification of uniforms in this photograph and anything that might cast a light on this image.
