Deployment--Shanghai February/ March/ April 1927
It seems that France had a tenuous tie to the mostly British Shanghai Defense Force which was created in late January 1927. A few companies from Indo China were sent, apparently a company at a time, Can anyone share details, dates as to alert. embarkation, arrival at Shanghai and landing. What ships carried them and were naval forces deployed--again dates a to departure and arrival. The culminating movement may have been five or six tanks that may have arrived from?France? Indochine? in April 1927. Many thanks.

Re: Deployment--Shanghai February/ March/ April 1927
I didn't have such detailed datas but
the whole naval force of the Far-East of that time was the armored cruiser Jules Michelet also the flagship (Rear Admiral Basire)
avisos Algol Altaïr Marne Craonne Alerte
gunboats Doudart-de-Lagrée Balny Lagrandière for the Yang-Tsé Flotilla and Argus Vigilante for the Si-Kiang Flotilla
joined by Bellatrix and Cassiopée more the light cruiser Primauget
a landing force seems to be in Changaï before as the 11th november 1926 sailors from the Jules-Michelet were there to celebrate the Armistice
local forces organized like the French Volunteers Company and Chinese Volunteers Company
according to the Military History of Indochina Vol. II between the 15th january 1927 and 10th april 1927 1717men were sent from Indochina :
35 officers 731 European and 951 Indochinese soldiers
in january came a first Tonkinese Tirailleurs company
in march a second company
and an European Battalion (2 companies and 1 machine-gun coy) a 65mm mountain gun section
an indochinese company, machine-gun section, a battalion staff with 2 indochinese companies and 1 european, a Tanks FT section from Saïgon arrived with Lieutenant Colonel Landais the 12th april future commander of the French Detachment of Shangai officially raised in july
troops were organized in a 103e Bataillon Mixte d'Infanterie Coloniale de Marche
and a 104e Bataillon Indochinois de Marche d'Extrême-Orient former Changaï Battalion
these last troops were transported by the merchant navy ships of the Messageries Maritimes Company:
500men of Colonial Infantry, a Tonkinese Tirailleurs company and artillery by the ocean liner General Metzinger
500 more by l'Amazone
a little touch of color, flag of the 104th Indochinese Battalion raised 27th july 1927 from the Changaï Battalion
Regards
