Hi all,

I found this image on Ebay. I think 240mm Mle 1884 G.P gun of Bastion I battery of Calais.

Hi Sturm78,

Image 1: It looks like a French “canon de 164 Mle 1893/96 sur affût M » but they are many variations of this gun. It could the Castel Vendon battery near Cherbourg but this is just a guess.

Image 2 : It is a French « canon de 240 Mle 1903 TR » from the La Hève battery near Le Havre (about 1 hour west of Rouen).

Thanks Jos for the location for (1).

For (2), I'm convinced it's La Hève battery next to Le Havre. The picture was part of a series that matched other pictures from La Hève battery. The same series also contained pictures from Rouen and the Seine River, so, much closer to Le Havre than Cherbourg.

Sturm78,

The two pictures were taken at Fort de Nacqueville Haut, near Cherbourg. See "Mur de l'Atlantique: les batteries de côte" d'Alain Chazette. 8-)
