Hello,
did the Troupes Auxilares Morocanins , created after 1911 in the Sultans service, still exist in 1939 as the Sultans Morrocan army, or had it been absorbed into the French colonial army ? The only nominally independent Moroccan military force i know of would be the Royal "Black guardsmen" unit in 1939.

Re: Troupes Supplétives (Auxiliaires) Marocaines
hello
I am not sure that is the only unit you know : the supplétives forces still in existence in this protectorate were the famous Goums (Goumiers units) absorbed in the Tabors of the "Cherifian Mehallas" after the armistice of june 1940
there were also the mokhaznis/moghaznis of the maghzen (severals spellings) and some others fezzas or harkas
and even the regulars units Moroccans or Algerian and Tunisian Tirailleurs and Spahis didn't belong to the "Colonial Army" or the "Colonial Troops" that was only the name for the former old Marine Infantry and Artillery between 1901 and 1961 and the Tirailleurs of black Africa and Indochina

Hi,
"Colonial armies in Africa 1850-1918" by Peter Abbott briefly mentions them, as local companies paid for by the French,
wearing lt khaki tunic, baggy breeches, red sash, red fez in lt khaki cover.
No mention if they existed in 1939. Perhaps these troops (ex members of the pre 1911 rebellion, Morrocan army) formed the cadre of the units that Loic mentions .

Re: Troupes Auxilares Morocanins (Moroccan army)?
hello
yes the Goums and the Cherifian Guard were the "Moroccan Auxiliaries Troops" of 1914, a Goum is a company-size unit (~200men), there were 16 Goums raised between 1908 and 1914
the title, word of Supplétives Troops of 1939 had the same meaning as auxiliaries
short history and organisation (after page 12) french text
