French tactical defense. Maps? Ddiagrams?
Anyone able to offer maps or schematic diagrams of the French tactical level defense? Or sources. Illustrating how a regiment of division would position the companies & heavy weapons? I am trying to collect a fairly broad collection with examples from pre war training & doctrine, from the early days of May 1940, and the later deployment such as in the Weygand line & other locations in June.
I have a small collection from sources such as Doughtys 'The Breaking Point' (Sedan), Gunsbergs 'Battle on the Belgian Plain', some bits in 1950s French language magazine articles. Anything else would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks & Merci

I bet the French army has a historical section, might take some time.

From article in Militaerwissenschaftliche Rundschau (1937. H. 3. S. 421) "Anschauungen über die Abwehr in fremden heeren" by Oberst (E) Freiherr von NeubronnCarl Schwamberger wrote:Anyone able to offer maps or schematic diagrams of the French tactical level defense?

Thanks. Comparing that to some of the other second hand items here I see some differences. In the German schematic I'm not seeing provision for reorienting the weapons to the flank or rear should it be necessary. Maybe I'm not reading the illustration correctly in this. Also I dont see provisions for forward deployed artillery in the Mittlezone or Vordere Zone. Last, I'm not seeing AT guns in the illustration. Am I misreading the illustration for AT guns? The distances or depth of each zone matches the other material I have, more or less. I expect terrain would modify the depth of the zones. In general I can see a match between this & the illustration of the defense positions across the river from Sedan in Doughtys book 'The Breaking Point'.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
