not the 237e DLI (236e 274e RI traditionally associated to Normandy) camp of Rivesaltes near Perpignan absorbing 5e DIM (Normandy) and 55e DIKelvin wrote:Hi, Loic, I see some sources that apart from 5e DIM, 237 DLI only absorbed 22e DI, but I cannot find the compositon of 118e RI of 236e DLI, what are their troop come from ?
some sources said three DLM after evaucation of Dunkirk, was reduced to brigade size, only had twenty tanks (H39 and S-35), less than ten Armoured cars, and one battalion of dragoon, no artillery and engineer any more, is this correct and are correct in all three DLM in this period ?
but the 236e DLI, camp de Souge near Bordeaux, with the 64e and 118e RI (traditional regiments of Britanny) from remnants of 22e DI (Britanny) and also 148e RIF and 9e DIM
5 DLM were reformed on a reduced type (1st 2nd 3rd 4th and 7th)
see 10th page or numbered 72 here for tanks and armoured cars
http://www.atf40.fr/atf40/documents/chapitre%203.pdf
they didn't have really an identical composition, some could have AAA battery or field artillery
it was planned to convert all the 5 Cavalry Light Divisions into Light Mechanised (1st to 5th becoming 4e 5e 6e 7e 8e DLM) due to the circunstances there were only 4th and 7th organised (former 1st and 4th Light Cavalry) even if sometimes the others can appear in the french newspapers under their planned designations
