This officer was in disgrace (Porch: The French Foreign Legion) after ordering the withdrawal of his unit during the El-Himeitat battle. Can anyone shed any more light on this incident? I read that he was wounded after stepping on a mine so was that the catalyst for the Legion's poor performance? The death of Amilakvari was also a great blow for a unit relying on the leadership of men who were larger than life.

regards

Keith
