Hi Sturm:

Your last truck is, I believe, a 1934 or so White/Indiana 4 ton 6X6.
The spare wheels and tyres appear to have been dismounted and placed on the front axles for more traction.

I am still looking for answers on your earlier group of photos from 04 February.

Hi Sturm:

The rocket launcher is indeed a Studebaker US6 Lend Lease used by Soviet forces.

Hi Sturm:

Not much progress, but a little, on your group from 03 February.

1. Standard Fleet prototype Group IV 7 1/2 to 9 ton 6x6.
2. Still not sure.
3. Possibly a civilian Ford AA.
4. Don't know.
5. I am fairly certain these are Autocar 8144 or 8244 tractors.

Hello Bill,
I think you're you speaking about my group from 04 February. :)
1. Checked some images of Group IV QMC trucks, and they all had commercial cabins. So I think this is Group V QMC W52501 6x6:

And a W52502 tank transporter with some sort of T1E4/5/6 tank for comparance

3. Some details are not typical for civilian truck, are they? I marked them with green here.
5. Thank you!
With best regards, Ilya.

Hi Ilya:

Please accept my apologies for not replying to the correct poster.
As my Wife continually reminds me, at age 74 my memory is more and more playing tricks on me. As Sturm usually makes these question posts, I just assumed the photos were his without reading the author header.

Regarding the ID questions again, I still am fairly sure your original truck is a Group IV and I am posting a photo here of one of the pages from Fred Crismon's book which shows in the upper left hand corner a Group IV 6x6 which has more or less the same cabin as your photo and also the same style of louvers in the side of the motor hood. I am sorry to post the whole page, my Photoshop program is having some issues and I could not crop the one photo. If I get it fixed, I will repost the photo.

For the same reason, I could not enhance the photo of the truck at the Naval Training Center. As you have done so, it is obvious it is not a Ford but I am not yet sure what it is. Unfortunately, the Army, the Navy and the Army Air Corps all went on a bit of a buying spree starting around 1932/1933 after Roosevelt was elected and purchased a wide variety of civilian chassis/cab trucks that they equipped with more or less military type specialty bodies and if you cannot see the front end it can be quite difficult to ID them.

I will continue to try to find an answer on the Navy truck and the sound truck.

Hello, Bill,
I'm not sure if you had to apologize, personally I didn't take any offense. =)
Very interesting, I didn't know about the pilot model, thanks for the scan. So the rightmost vehicle in the Sterling ad should be the same. Do you know what engine was used on this pilot Group IV truck?
With best regards, Ilya.

Hi Ilya:

If the two trucks are the same, mine and the one in the Sterling advertisement, it may be that the engine used was a Sterling.

I managed to "massage" the scan a bit and here is the photo of "my" truck by itself.

Hi Sturm:

Sorry. I missed this one.

The truck is almost surely a 1934/1935 Dodge.
I will have to research the tractor, this is not in my normal range of research.

Hi all,

I found this image on EBay. M5 Tractors but I am not sure if this image can be dated during WW2 or in postwar.
Maybe someone has some idea observing the markings on the front fenders.....
