Well, "Operation Underworld" gives you several to chose from. IIRC, Joseph A. "Socks" Lanza was the first "Made" member of a crime family to cooperate with the US government. The most famous would be Salvatore Lucania (aka Charles "Lucky" Luciano), Meyer Suchowljansky (aka Meyer Lansky), and supposedly Anthony "Tough Tony" Anastasio.

Thanks von Thoma.

What experiment did the US Navy try on the 10th of May 1942?

I apologise for not giving a clue - I had to go into hospital for an operation, plus my laptop died. The answer is that the US navy experimented with increasing the range of aircraft by using them as towed gliders. Two F4F Wildcats were hooked to tow lines behind an Army A-20 bomber, had their engines cut and were towed for an hour for 180 knots at 7,000 feet.

The floor is now open to anyone else who wants to post a question.

Isn't this LTC. George Stevens who made a color film in NW Europe while in the Signal Corps? he directed Shane
