Re post no 206. I have not ided the truck but the tractor is an allis-Chalmers model L Source "tractorfriends.org/nuzanbolts/articles/Allis%20Crawler/Allis%2...". Acording to Crismon's "US MILITARY TRACKED VEHICLES" It was built in 1932 and standardized as Heavy tractor M1. A clue is the use of a steering wheel instead or the usual Laterals.

Hi Sturm:

I can only guess at this point, but it looks to me like some sort of fire fighting trailer.
The identification bits would indicate to me a Chrysler product, probably a Plymouth.
A further guess would be it might be an Australian product.

I believe Bill is correct in that it is a mobile firefighting pump. Here is a somewhat similar one in service with the British AFS in 1938:

Hi Sturm:

Not my area of research, but I believe it is an MGMC M15 with the "turret" turned around.

Hi Sturm:

It is at least possible that this is a ca. 1936 Duplex Searchlight Truck built in very small numbers.
My scanner is not working just now but a photo appears in Fred Crismon's book "US Military Wheeled Vehicles" that is very, very similar.

I will try to do some further research.

Hi all,

Here, an image of a Chevrolet M1941 truck in Argentinean Army service with a 20mm Oerlikon AA gun.
My question is: Was this design manufactured specifically for Argentina ?? When were delivered ?? During WW2??

Thanks in advance. Sturm78

Hi Sturm:

I would say that this truck is a 1942 Chevrolet purchased by the Argentine Government, in 1942.

It was probably supplied as a chassis/cowl with windscreen from the US.

Argentina did not join the Allied Forces at the beginning of WWII and so had to purchase whatever equipment they needed from essentially "civilian stocks".

It is possible that the bodywork was done by the firm Gnecco and I have added a photo here of a water truck they made for Argentina on what I believe is the same chassis. I have also added a few more photos of your truck in Argentine service.

I hope this helps.
