forecast number of US infantry casualties in Normandy

#1

Post by WAKEN » 28 Jan 2016, 23:40

I'm looking for details on the forecast number of US infantry casualties in Normandy/Northern Europe. I have found the British forecast from the book 'Colossal Cracks' and the Canadian forecast from 'The Victory Campaign'.

Does anyone have the information or know a book/source that does have?

Thanks,

Neil

Hoping to get a response to my query here's the pre D-Day British infantry casualties forecast, based on a 'medium' definition of infantry:

6 June to 3 July - 16,306
4 July to 9 August - 9,067
10 August to 1 September - 7,975

The pre D-Day Canadian infantry casualties forecast was:

6 June to 10 July - 2,282
1 July to 30 September - 10,967

You may find them in the Planning for Coalition Warfare books. You can also check C.A.R.L. for planning documents.

Um, they are all based upon the Evett rates as modified for NEPTUNE, so they are all basically the same, adjusted for the smaller size of the initial American commitment. I think I have them somewhere and may have mentioned them in Cracking Hitler's Atlantic Wall.

Thanks Richard. If you do have them somewhere and could dig them out that would be great!

Cheers, Neil
