US fighter attacks on German airfields, did they use rockets?

During the strafing campaign against German airfields, first in Italy starting in 1943 and then continuing on with the invasion of France and Germany in 1944-45, were fighters or fighter-bombers using rockets to attack airfields or just using MG fire and bombs?
