Axis POWs in America

Postby Cory C on 11 Mar 2004 22:19

Hello, my friends,

-I know of German POWs being sent to the U.S. after the war; were there any from other Axis states?
-How many from each nation?
-Where were they sent?
-Did any marry into families they were sent to work for?
-By what processes were the "host familes" selected?
-What was the average sentence for each POW?
-Was this process banned by the post-war Geneva Convention?
-Did any POWs go on to publish accounts of their time in America?

and the most important question:

-What purpose did this serve? Revenge? Compensation for wartime financial losses?

Thanks,
~Cory
