I have this unit arriving North Africa May 1942.
On 3 x Bty each of 8 x 25Pdrs.
The unit disbanded August 1942.

Can anyone confirm the above?

Why was it disbanded? Did it get captured, or receive a mauling?

Thanks.

From "Gunners at War", by Bidwell

T'was part of 5th Indian Division for Op ABERDEEN (south of Knightsbridge), 4-6 June 1942. The CRA of 5th Indian Division was captured during this battle when it went remarkably pear-shaped and two Bde HQs were scattered by an AK armoured thrust.

Subsequently ...
This left the battalions of the 10th Indian Infantry Brigade, the field artillery who had moved up to give them close support, and the Support Group, consisting of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers and the 107th RHA, who had been told to remain where they were on the Dahar el Aslagh ridge until the 22nd Armoured Brigade returned, uncommanded and out in the blue. All were lost. ...
I suspect that the unit not being disbanded till August was simply lagging administration, particularly since ME GHQ had other things to worry about in June and July ;)
