Re: Id. british gun
Sexton, the Bishop was much narrower, had overhead cover and the gun didn't have the muzzle brake fitted.

Re: Id. british gun
Probably for the narrow track version of the gun that started life as the Jury Axle, ie Carriage Mk 2. My guess would be carriage construction only.Sturm78 wrote:Hi all,

Re: Id. british gun
According to wikipedia (which source is a Hogg & Thurston' book), it is a British WW1 "QF 6 inch naval gun, on high-angle mounting on railway truck, as anti-aircraft gun. This is probably located in Chatham Dockyard, defending the Thames Estuary. Originally published in an illustrated magazine during World War I. This version scanned from "British Artillery Weapons & Ammunition 1914-1918" by I.V. Hogg & L.F. Thurston, published by Ian Allan, London, 1972."

The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41
