Hi Alan,

No. According to photocaption Australian gun and crew at Middle Head of the First Heavy Brigade, R.A.A. Sydney Harbour defences.

I found this other image on the net. I think an 9.2in (234mm) gun. Probably a Mk.10 gun on a Mk.5, 6 or 7 mounting.
Does somebody know how can be differenciate the different mountings of the 9.2in coastal guns? :?

The question is: How can be distinguished the different models of 6in british coastal guns? :? :?

6 inch wire mark VII gun on garrison carriage mark II. This remained the standard British medium coastal gun through WW II and the end of coast artillery in 1956

Ummhhh....??? Are you sure? :?
I think the Mk.VII had a longer barrel and a different muzzle.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BL6in ... ch2008.jpg
According to Wikipedia image the MK.VII had two cylinders below the barrel

Here another image of a 6in british coastal gun in Timor. Model??
This one have two cylinders above the barrel. :?

Any idea about the 6in guns posted in this thread on 09 Jan 2012 ?

I am becoming more confused with the different models of British 6in coastal guns. :? :? :x
Does anyone know how to differentiate the various models?

Thanks in advance

Hi Karlik

the first two were made by members of the Australian Volunteer Defence Corps and by the looks of things one off weapons. The thrid is the British standard 3 inch mortar used by the British and other Commonwealth Armies.

Could be wrong, but the above turret looks like a 15" Mk.I. Seems too big for a 12" or 13.5".
