Interesting, when i first saw this i wondered if they were the East Med Fleet's Fairmiles, later usd by SOE/Force 13 for insertions into Crete etc., but they're listed separately...

I've searched through HT Lentons British & Empire Warships, and there not listed as such, which tends to lead me to believe that they were 'patrol boats' in name. Lenton does have a listing for a SNIPE with a pennant number 20 under Flag U (1940), BUT Flag U's were designated for Escort vessels and not Patrol vessels which were Flag K.

My guess is that these vessels maybe local and pressed into a auxillary function, though for them not to be listed in Lenton is strange.

There is a book called The Royal Navy and the Palestine Patrol which may give you some more information

It could well be that these vessels belonged to the Port & Marine Division/Department of the Palestine Police!

There is a reference in Hansard regarding 5 Government launches being used to patrol the coast to stop Jewish refugees, though this is for 1939, but they may well be the same vessels.

No surprise that the Sealion doesn't make the naval-history.net list.. No date of manufacture or the shipyard....besides the fact that it shares the same name as the sub,not much of note..

Very little in this book for the time period of 1941,mostly concerns the refugees arriving later on.
