Re: Id. british equipment
Hi Sturm78
I can give some help here. I think it is a Vickers 90cm Searchlight, see link
http://www.waryearsremembered.co.uk/hom ... hlight.htm
Interestingly they were used both for Anti Aircraft and, as is the case here, Anti Shipping, in a coastal mode.
Thank you for posting this picture

Re: Id. british equipment WA30 Wheels
Can someone please provide more information regarding wheels on Chevrolet WA30 (1.5 Ton) used by the LRDG. I need to find out the offset and wheel bolt pattern measurements. I have this information, but I'm not sure if it is correct. Tire size 10.50X16. Lug pattern (7.25 circle) and (4.75) center hole. Your help is much appreciated.Thank you.
Re: Id. british equipment
I first thought it was a pre-war Sound Locator, developed to detect aircraft before radar. However, looking more closely I think it's a post was AA fire control equipment with integral radar.Sturm78 wrote:Hi all,

Looks like a coast defence site, so 'Defence Electric Light'. AA searchlights were "Projector, 90 cm" and "Projector, 120 cm"

Re: Id. british equipment
Obviously AA, variously called 'rangefinder', 'height finder' and 'height and rangefinder (HRF)' most UK instruments were made by Barr & Stroud but pre-war a few 5 metre versions were purchased from Goetz and from Levallois. This one looks about 3 metres optical base so it must be a UB7 (9 foot base). It may also have been called HRF No 6 or 7. There's a predictor behind it and something behind that before the gun.
