Australian 2/2 Anti Tank Regiment

Does anyone know the gun types for this regiment during Operation Exporter? From various sources I've figured out that they had 4 Batteries with at least some 2 pounders a few most likely Portee'd. Other sources hint that they also had some Bofors which makes sense due to the shortage of 2 pounders at that time. I heard an audio recording from a veteran of the regiment that said one battery was equipped with captured Solothurn's which were in his words "useless". I know one battery was on the coast road and a second forward in the central sector with 2 batteries in reserve one being the Solothurn equipped battery. Anyone have some sources that confirm what the other 3 batteries were equipped with? Appreciate any and all help.

Hi.
I've always found concrete evidence for 2/2 difficult to come by. (have you looked in the on-line histories?) http://www.diggerhistory.info/00-pages- ... -index.htm
http://www.awm.gov.au/histories/second_world_war/

They arrived in North Africa the previous March with 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th Batteries. These were probably all 2pdr armed, but not porteed upon arrival, that might have happened later. Some people seem to think that only 2 batteries were involved in Exporter, but I don't know why.

Sorry that I have really been of no help!

But I would be interested to see if anyone else can come up with anything.

Good luck with your search.
