William (Bill) Wigley was commander of tank 9 on that beach that day...he was my grandfather who relayed the experiences of that day to us....he had that tank 9 and the boats around painted on many footstools for us grandkids....3.5 years pow in Germany... Interesting how these accounts relate that the tracks were broken by anti-tank fire, how many/what proportion suffered broken tracks due to the beach shingle/chert etc?
