Hi,

Major-General Cyril Ernest Napier Lomax

http://www.generals.dk/general/Lomax/Cy ... itain.html

Commanded the Brigade throughout 1941 except for two short periods 07.04-19.04 and 24.10-02.12.

During the last period it was commanded by Brigadier Rupert Frederic Courtney Oxley-Boyle

Thanks a lot.

Do you know who was the officer commander of 23rd british brigade, also in Tobruk?

At first I thought he was brigadier Galloway, but in some place I've read that he was BGS of 8th Army.

Best regards

Antonio

Galloway commanded the 23rd Brigade 09.05-27.09 1941. He was follewed by Brigadier Cecil Herbet Vaughan Cox since 27.09.

I'm unsure who commened the brigade before Galloway.

Hi Steen

I have a Brig W T Brooks commanding 23 Brigade between 03/09/39-08/08/40 and then Brig J T Leslie from 09/09/40-08/05/41

Also in between Galloway and Cox commanding the Brigade, a Lt-Col R F Heyworth had tempoary command from 04/09/41-26/09/41

Regards

Hi Andy,

Thank you very much. For some reason I had Leslie's command end garbled into 15/08/40 instead of 08/05/41 (It must have been late that day), which is why I weren't able to find out who command the brigade before Galloway. I have also missed Heyworth's temp command. What a day!

So this makes me doubt my next statement, but isn't it true that Brooks didn't become CO before 20/09/40 with the renaming of the Canal Brigade, which he commanded?

Kind Regards
