50th Recce Regiment.

What armoured vehicles was this unit using during 1942?

Do we have quantities?

Not familiar with this unit, David. Was it in NA? What larger formation did it belong to?

Ouch. My usual source has very slender coverage of infantry divisions, unfortunately. If something turns up though I will send it your way.

Generally speaking, the Recce Regt of an Infantry Division would have used Humber light recce cars, fifty-two if memory serves, plus a large number of universal carriers. Towards the end of 1942, they began to receive Humber armoured cars, which replaced a number of the Humber LRCs.

The paper WE for a 1942 Recce Troop was five LRCs and seven universal carriers, plus two motorcycles, changing to three LRCs, two armoured cars and seven universal carriers, plus two motorcycles, towards the end of that year.

"Generally speaking" is O.K.
"Specifically speaking" is better! :)
