German POW in France-Anyone know where these photos were taken?

Hello,

I am seeking information regarding German POWs in French Captivity. My Grandfather was one such POW.

I have a handful of photos of his time as a prisoner of war in France, see pics attached.
I am wondering if anyone can tell me about these photos, or where they may have been taken.

I have searched and searched re the one photo with the "Romans" sign, but got absolutely nowhere. I have looked through information and old archival photos of all the different camps in France, but didn't find anything there either.

My grandfather was a POW for years after the war, and one of those who returned late. I have requested his Wast file and have been waiting on news on that for about 15 months now.

Any info much appreciated!

Thanks so much,
SabiJ

Hello SabiJ,
Must be the city of Romans sur Isère I think
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romans-sur-Is%C3%A8re
I saw that there was a POW camp for germans in Grenoble (N°145) and that city is also in the Département de l'Isère.
The distance between Romans and Grenoble is +/- 55km. Maybe was it a labour Kommando in Romans.
I found no more information
Kindly regards from Belgium and sorry for my poor english knowledge.
Prosper
