The info will be published in my book about allies war crimes .
Please write a short CV of the soldier , his unit ,rank ,nationality ,awards ,place and date ( and motive ) of the death ( if unkown ,just write “never returned from
captivity .”)
You may post here or pm me .
Thanks to any reader who will take the time to answer .

I really wouldn't want you to associate the Soviet Gulags with the Americans.

In no way is anything the Americans did comparable, so I will not aid you with providing my relatives information.

I find what you are doing almost offensive.

Hello!
I have a listing of Norwegians that died in Soviet POW camps, but several names would have to be anonymousized.

Adolf Dettmer wrote: "I really wouldn't want you to associate the Soviet Gulags with the Americans"

I fail to see where "Charlemagne" writes that.

Dear Charlemagne, since I know you can read Italian language, I suggest you to contact directly the Uninione Nazionale Italiana Reduci di Russia, certainly they'll provide you the most complete and detailed info about Italians.
Moreover, there is also this historic site Gulag Italia, there is a section about Italians (but of Soviet citizenship) interned (and often died) in the Gulag.

Thanks all of you ,men , DrG, Bjorn , and Juha ..... More please ....

Dettmer :
1-As Bjorn - who read english - put it ,I was talking about Gulag . I didn't knew that it was a Gulag in the USA ....
2- You find that "offensive" ...well ,if the US also committed war crimes -and they did - ( does Hiroshima rings a bell to you ?) I don't know why the truth should be suppressed .
3- If you don't want to comunicate the names of your relatives who died in soviet captivity ,fine ...so don't enter this topic ,pal ....
4- If you want to spread the fairy tale that the US never committed war crimes (which ,again, wasn't the topic at all ...) you obviously will find some problems with the magistral work of J.Bacques ...or [off topic remarks and insulting remarks were removed]

Dettmer:

Nothing comparable...

Well, let's see:

In the book "Other losses" written by James Bacque he claimed, that Eisenhower was primarily responsible for the catastrophe in the cages. Eisenhower let the German soldiers starve despite sufficient supplies, just due to his feelings of personal revenge. General Eisenhower was in his own words on a "crusade in Europe". The Canadian Bacque estimates that about 1 million soldiers died in US custody.

So, my dear Dettmer, if you want to believe that the USA behaviour in the war was pure and clean, ok, do it. However, I would suggest you to awake to reality, even if it hurts.

Ostuf Charlemange:
Excuse me because I think that the previous lines were a bit out of topic.

Have you taken a look at http://home.arcor.de/kriegsgefangene/?

There is a diary of captivity in Brody, propaganda march in Kiev, Darnica,
Bunker-camp Kiev, Sawmill - Camp 8, Stalino, Mine 41, Mine 22,
Brestlidowsk, Frankfurt/Oderdiary by Roman Stöckleins at http://home.arcor.de/kriegsgefangene/me ... ivity.html

Perhaps it helps-

Best regards

Ostuf. Charlemagne's request for assistance is appropriate to the subject matter of this section of the forum. It is not an invitation to post opinions or other off-topic material.

My dear Thompson ,I sorry to make you note that you are absolutely off-topic .

I'm looking for a list of Axis POWs who never returned form the Gulag .Nothing to do with Bacques and the USA (about which I gave you an hard time some months ago in another section of the forum.)

If Dettmer ,who obviously don't read english ,hadn't started with his childish , emotive , reaction, all that won't be on discussion .
So ,please everybody stay on topic .

Thompson ,as a moderator you should write to Dettmer ,not to me .(Please , read since the beginning and the very tittle of the topic ....Now ,in the case of Dettmer ,when someone says something even off-topic ,he get answers . This is not a mute forum . )
Now ,back on topic ,please !

I understood what you were doing. My reference to the Bacque threads was to keep this thread on-topic by directing readers, who wanted to discuss Bacque, elsewhere.
